Welcome Host Families: Thank you for considering Lauryn & Littles. We look forward to getting to know your family and helping you find an au pair who naturally fits into your home. These Terms explain our introduction service, personalised matching process, one-off fee, and refund policy.

1. Our Introduction Service

Lauryn & Littles is an au pair introduction service. We take the time to understand your family's needs, childcare requirements, lifestyle and expectations before identifying suitable candidates from our network.

Our service includes reviewing your family's requirements, selecting suitable candidates, facilitating introductions, and providing an opportunity for you to meet an au pair we believe would be a perfect addition to your family.

Our service concludes in accordance with the matching and refund process set out below. We do not employ or supply au pairs to families, manage their ongoing placements, or guarantee that an introduction will result in a placement.

2. Our Introduction Process

Step 1 – Understanding Your Family

You will complete a family application outlining your household, childcare requirements, preferred schedule, expectations, and the qualities you are looking for in an au pair. We may contact you to clarify your requirements before proceeding.

Step 2 – Personalised Matching

We will review your requirements and identify two au pair candidates whom we believe may be suitable for your family, based on the information available to us. We consider factors such as childcare experience, personality, language skills, personal preferences, and compatibility with your family and lifestyle.

Step 3 – Introduction Fee

As a private introduction service, our one-off introduction fee is outlined in the application form provided to families at the beginning of the process.

Once we understand your requirements, we will identify two suitable au pair candidates. The introduction fee is payable before we release their full profiles and contact details. Following payment, we will provide the candidate information so that you can arrange direct introductions and meet the candidates personally.

The introduction fee covers our candidate search, matching service, and the facilitation of introductions. It does not guarantee a placement or include the employment of an au pair.

Step 4 – One Additional Candidate

If, after meeting the initial two candidates, you feel that neither meets your family's expectations, you may provide us with feedback on the reasons they were not suitable. We will take your feedback into account and conduct one further search to identify and introduce one additional candidate at no extra cost.

The additional candidate is subject to availability and suitability. We will make reasonable efforts to identify a suitable match but cannot guarantee that a candidate meeting every preference will be available.

If, after meeting the additional candidate, you feel that our introduction service has still not met your expectations, you may request a refund in accordance with Step 5.

Step 5 – Refund Policy

Where a refund is applicable, 50% of the original introduction fee will be refunded. The remaining 50% covers the matching service and introduction work undertaken.

This concludes our introduction service for that enquiry. No further candidate searches or introductions are included in the original fee. To request a refund, please contact us directly explaining your concerns.

This policy does not limit any cancellation, refund, or other statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

3. Our Role and Responsibilities

We will take reasonable care when reviewing applications, assessing suitability, and selecting candidates for introduction. Any information we provide about a candidate is based on information available to us at the time. We will communicate clearly about checks undertaken and any relevant limitations.

Unless expressly confirmed otherwise in writing, an introduction should not be taken as a guarantee of a candidate's identity, qualifications, experience, suitability, or eligibility to undertake the proposed arrangement in the UK. We will not knowingly misrepresent information about a candidate.

4. Family Responsibilities

Families are responsible for deciding whether to proceed with a candidate and must conduct their own due diligence to ensure they are satisfied with the candidate's suitability before welcoming them into their home. Lauryn & Littles facilitates introductions but cannot guarantee a candidate's attendance, reliability, or ongoing suitability. Families and au pairs are responsible for agreeing on and managing their arrangement directly.

Before an arrangement begins, the family should agree relevant details, including:

  • Duties and childcare responsibilities.
  • Working hours, schedule, breaks, and time off.
  • Pocket money, pay, or other financial arrangements, as legally applicable.
  • Accommodation, meals, private bedroom, and household expectations.
  • Start date, duration, and arrangements for ending the placement.
  • Any relevant safeguarding, insurance, and emergency arrangements.

Families must establish and comply with applicable UK immigration, right-to-work, employment, minimum-wage, and other legal requirements. Calling an arrangement an “au pair placement” does not automatically exempt it from UK employment law. Our introduction service does not replace the family's responsibility to make appropriate decisions and comply with applicable legal requirements.

5. Non-Circumvention & Direct Engagement

All introductions and candidate profiles provided by Lauryn & Littles are confidential. If a family, or any associate of the family, engages, employs, or utilizes the services of any candidate introduced by Lauryn & Littles within twelve (12) months of the introduction date, the full introduction fee shall remain payable. Any refund previously granted under Step 5 shall immediately be forfeit and repayable in full upon demand.

6. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

Subject to the above, Lauryn & Littles operates solely as an introductory facilitator and is not an employer or principal of either party. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Lauryn & Littles’ total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with our introduction service shall not exceed the introduction fee paid by the family for the introduction in question. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, property damage, or disputes arising between families and candidates.

7. Candidate Information and Privacy

We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Notice. Information about candidates is provided solely for considering a potential introduction. Families must handle that information responsibly, keep it secure, and not disclose it to unrelated third parties or use it for unrelated purposes. We ask families to respect candidates' privacy and treat their personal information confidentially.

8. Communication and Changes

We ask families to provide accurate information about their needs and notify us promptly if their requirements change. If a significant change affects the suitability of the original search, we will discuss next steps with you. Any additional service or fee must be agreed in writing in advance. We will communicate any material issue affecting the introduction process as soon as reasonably practicable.

9. Cancellation and Statutory Rights

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or restrict any rights you have under applicable consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Where you enter into an agreement with us online, by email, or otherwise at a distance, statutory cancellation rights may apply. Any applicable cancellation period, refund entitlement, and arrangements for requesting that work begins during a cancellation period will be explained separately where required. Our refund policy in Section 2 (Step 5) does not override any statutory cancellation or refund rights that apply to your circumstances.

10. Our Commitment

Our goal is to make finding the right au pair a smooth, straightforward, and reassuring experience. We take the time to understand your family's needs and carefully match you with candidates whom we genuinely believe may be a good fit for your household.

Although we cannot guarantee a placement or a particular outcome, we are committed to approaching each introduction thoughtfully, professionally, and honestly.

11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Both parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Welcome Au Pairs & Candidates: Thank you for your interest in Lauryn & Littles. Our aim is to help au pairs find host families where they feel welcomed, valued, and well-suited. Our introduction service is completely free for au pairs.

1. Our Introduction Service

Lauryn & Littles is an au pair introduction service. We take the time to understand your childcare experience, personality, preferences, availability, and expectations before considering you for suitable family introductions.

We aim to make thoughtful introductions based on mutual compatibility, rather than simply matching based on availability.

2. No Fees for Au Pairs (100% Free Service)

Our service is completely free for au pairs and candidates. In compliance with the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and UK regulations, we do not charge you to apply, be considered for a family, or be introduced to a host family. We will never ask you to pay an introduction fee or deposit to access family opportunities.

3. Our Introduction Process

Step 1 – Your Application

You complete our au pair application, providing honest and accurate information about yourself, your background, childcare experience, and what you are looking for in a host family.

Step 2 – Getting to Know You

We will arrange a video call to learn more about your personality, childcare experience, preferences, and expectations. We may also request references and relevant identity, background, or eligibility checks (such as police or DBS checks where applicable and legally permitted). We will explain what checks are required and any limitations.

Step 3 – Family Matching

If we believe you may be a suitable match for a family, we will discuss the opportunity with you before sharing your relevant profile with that family, in line with our Privacy Notice and applicable data protection requirements. We aim to make suitable introductions, but we cannot guarantee that you will be matched with a family or offered a position.

Step 4 – Meeting the Family

If both you and the family are interested, we will facilitate an introduction. You and the family can then speak directly, discuss your expectations, and decide whether you would be a good fit for one another.

4. Your Responsibilities

As an au pair candidate, you agree to:

  • Age Requirement: Confirm you are at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
  • Honesty & Accuracy: Provide truthful, accurate information about your experience, qualifications, references, availability, and circumstances.
  • Prompt Updates: Let us know if your availability, travel plans, or preferences change.
  • Professionalism: Be respectful, courteous, and professional when communicating with us and host families.
  • Clarify Expectations: Ask questions and clarify expectations before agreeing to any placement.
  • UK Immigration & Right to Work: Ensure you have the appropriate immigration permission, visa, and legal right to undertake the proposed arrangement in the United Kingdom.

Before accepting a placement, make sure you understand and agree with the family on your duties, hours, time off, pocket money or pay where applicable, private accommodation, meals, start date, and how the arrangement may conclude.

5. Our Role and Responsibilities

We will take reasonable care when reviewing your application and considering potential family matches. We aim to communicate clearly and treat all applicants fairly, respectfully, and without discrimination.

We act as an introduction service and do not employ you, guarantee a placement, or manage your ongoing arrangement with a host family. We cannot guarantee that every detail provided by a family or candidate will be independently verified. We will explain the checks we undertake and their limitations.

Your Personal Freedom: You are completely free to decide whether to accept an introduction or placement. You should never feel pressured to proceed with a family if you feel uncomfortable.

6. Privacy and Personal Information

We handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Notice, which explains what information we collect, how we use it, when it may be shared, and how long it is retained.

We will handle your information responsibly and only share relevant details with potential families in accordance with our stated privacy practices and applicable UK data protection laws. You can contact us at any time with questions about your personal information or ask to withdraw from our introduction service.

7. Ending or Withdrawing Your Application

You may withdraw your application or decide not to proceed with a family at any stage without penalty. We ask that you let us know so we can update our records. If you are already discussing a placement with a family, please communicate any decision not to proceed clearly and promptly as a professional courtesy.

8. Family Arrangements and Legal Requirements

Any placement is subject to your direct mutual agreement with the host family and applicable legal requirements. You and the family are responsible for clarifying the proposed arrangement before it begins.

The term “au pair” does not automatically determine your legal employment status or remove any applicable rights or obligations. The actual arrangement and relevant UK law will determine what requirements apply.

9. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
